Update
The doctor has been gradually decreasing Traci's calorie intake (through her feeding tube)with the hope to increase her appetite. If all goes as planned, Traci should be able to have Turkey Dinner tomorrow.
For two weeks, she is supposed to keep her arms as still as possible. This will give the her healing an extra boost. Moving isn't something that Traci can do easily anyway, but it does help with comfort.
Sydney is home from school and they enjoyed the afternoon to evening visiting. Traci is less medicated and able to carry on a conversation, unlike when Sydney was home last time. This is a blessing!

Update
My biggest desire with this blog is to keep you informed about the Schroeders and to celebrate the little things with them. They feel of your love and prayers and appreciate all you have done in their behalf. Traci has been moved to her "short term home" and is getting settled in. She has strict instructions as to her activity and she is wanting to get adjusted to her new routine before she has visitors. Her goal is to be in a wheelchair by the new year, when she can start her physical therapy. She is focusing on her mental health to better prepare herself for the road ahead.
Sydney will be home tomorrow for the holidays and Traci is looking forward to spending some time with her. Will can visit occasionally. Spending Thanksgiving together as a family will be extra special for them this year. They have so much to be thankful for.
Please continue to keep the family in your prayers. Hopefully, within a few weeks, Traci will be adjusted to her routine and ready for visitors. Thanks again for your love!

Update
No more surgery's scheduled for now. Traci is out of ICU! She has been moved to another room (only family visitors) until Monday where she then will be moved to a long term care facility in Provo. It is estimated that she will be there at least 60 days. Tuesday, she can have visitors.
Will is doing great . His next doctors appointmentis scheduled on December 2. Updates to follow later. Hoping for a release to go back to school.

Update
Not a lot of exciting news today. We knew Traci would have surgery and they didnt get her in until 3 pm, so when I spoke with Quint at 6, she was still in. This surgery is for her elbow again.
Quint said that the visit Sunday that Will and Traci had was awesome and helped both of them a lot!
Hopefully I can let you know how the surgery went later, or worse case, tomorrow!

Update
Yesterday's surgery lasted five hours. They put a plate in her right arm. Tomorrow she will go in for surgery, on her left elbow. Traci's mother trys to spend as much time as possible at the hospital with Traci. Traci is alert and enjoyed hearing that the young women are reading their Book of Mormon and working on the upcoming Young Women in Excellance program.
Will and Quint went shopping and out to lunch today. A father and son day on the town. It was fun to spend some down time together.

Will went for a ride with Grandma and Grandpa today, TO VISIT MOM!! What a happy visit. It's been two weeks since they have seen each other. Surely, this was great medicine for both of them.

Update
Here is Will wrapped up in his very own BYU blanket ready for the BYU game today. His aunt gave him the blanket when he came home from the hospital. Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder are taking very good care of Will.
Will's class each made him get well cards and his teachers visits during the week to help him with his school work. Doctor's orders are that he stay home from school for a month to allow the pelvic bone to heal. After that, maybe he can start school half days.
Some of you may have noticed that the car is at Quint and Traci's home. Right now, they are storing it for the insurance company. Take note, the pictures do not do the car justice. Thank you Tarus for helping get the car back to Eagle Mountain!
Schroeders appreciate all of the offers to help out! They do feel of your love. They know that each of you are right there ready to help! Please hang on, your turn to help will come.

Update
Tonight Traci read all of the cards that have been sent to her. It is hard to say she is comfortable, but I am sure she is more comfortable than she has been in the past. She deeply appreciates your expressions of love and concern for her.
She has a beautiful picture of the Savior embracing a young woman that the cast of our Stake play, "Savior of the World" gave to her. Please make sure one of you share your video of this wonderful play with her.
She talked a little about the accident and wanting to make sure the crash had as little of impact on Will that it could. Her desire was to keep him as safe as possible. She is a true mother!

Update
Surgery lasted almost five hours today on Traci's right leg. They discoved that she also had a broken knee cap. So, on her right leg, broken femur, broken knee cap and broken fibula. Pretty much a messed up leg. Let's hear it for modern medicine!

Traci had a really good day today. Not much has changed, so we will have the motto: No news is good news. She is uncomfortable, of course, but dealing with it like a champ. Quint will be going to work tomorrow ~ good luck!

Update
Will is doing great! Now the instructions are that he needs to take it easy. He gets so excited when his cousins come over for a visit. He will be at home at least a month to recover, so he is still doing home school.
Traci is tubeless today! This makes it so she can communicate better. She is still uncomfortable and in some pain. Her fluid has diapated some, so this is good news. She sat up today so Quint and Sam could give her back rubs. The doctor is very pleased and has the next surgery scheduled for Wednesday. Best of all, Traci was able to take the sacrament today!

Traci went into surgery this morning between 7:30 - 8:00 am. The doctor is pleased with the outcome. He also feels that maybe the tube can come out on Monday. Still one more surgery left, maybe Wednesday. Hopefully, she will be out of ICU by next sunday!

Update
The doctors told Will that he could walk as soon as he felt like walking. Well, that day was today. He has been up and walking around the house. Way to go!! Will!!
Today has been spent trying to keep Traci as comfortable as possible. She is understably edgy from the drugs and it's hard to find a comfortable position. Her surgery time is 7:30 a.m. tomorrow. This just leaves one more scheduled surgery! The family feels of your faith and prayers and appreciates your love and support. Thank you for everything you are doing for them!
I have had the opportunity to have Traci attend the Laurel class the last few years as I have taught. I truly value her insight and contributions to the lessons. She has earnestly been striving to become a more Christ centered daughter of God. I have marveled at her strength in the past and I know that she will continue to amaze me with her drive and desire to become who she wants to be. She is an amazing example to the Young Women in our ward. I love you, Traci, and thank you for the things you have taught me!

Update
Recovery Day!! No surgery and Traci gets to rest. She has been a little aggitated with not being able to communicate. She can use a pencil and paper but it takes a long time for her to write what she needs. She still has two more surgeries on the calendar. The first was planned for tomorrow, but the OR is too busy so it has been pushed back until Saturday. The second surgery will be on Monday or Tuesday. Both of these surgeries will be on her legs. The emergency surgeries on her legs were to stablize and pin the leg breaks. The new surgeries will tidy things up, complete with screws and bone grafts. There is a concern with fluid between her lungs and rib cage, so there is a good chance of a drainage tube being inserted.
Will is doing great at Grandma and Grandpas. He has started working on school work and has a good attitude. Sydney and Sam had their first experience at FIVE GUYS today. Quint expressed that he would "willingly take Traci's place". He visits Will daily and Quint's Mother is making sure Quint is eating.

Update
Will had a good day. He's getting around better and is enjoying the pampering by Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder.
Traci was very positive and happy to see Sydney who arrived late last night from Dixie College. Lark and Connie Erickson drove down yesterday to bring her home.

Update
Hi again. Good things to report tonight. Traci and Will are making progress each day.
Traci needed to have her spleen removed Monday night. Also a filter was put in an artery to catch any blood clots.She had a good day and her vital statistics were better. Tomorrow morning she will have surgery on both arms.
Will was feeling less pain tonight than he had this morning so he had a good day.
His scout troop (den leader Christie Buxton) is making cards for him tomorrow and will be leaving them on the front porch of the Schroeder home in the afternoon. If you'd like to add a card to it for Will, feel free to do so. Anything you want to send to him just leave on the front porch any day and Quint will take it when he goes to see him. Will's address at his grandparent's home is 2424 W. 11300S. South Jordan, UT 84095. Susan Woodruff is getting his homework to Quint so Will can stay caught up.
We are also wanting to do the same thing for Traci. Karen Finch will be putting a box on her porch to receive cards for Traci. It will remain there until she is released from the hospital. Karen will take the cards almost daily to the ICU at Utah Valley Hospital so that family members can read them to her when they are there. We will also have a box to receive cards for both Will and Traci outside the Relief Society room each Sunday. This is something we can do right now to let them know of our love and prayers for them.
Quint asked that we thank everyone for the love and support from the neighborhood. People are wanting to go to the hospital and sit with Traci but Quint says the staff is doing a great job so that isn't necessary. He prefers that no one come to the hospital except family members. Thank you again for your offers to help. That time will come and we will need all of you.

Driver is arrested after head-on crash

SARATOGA SPRINGS — A Cedar Hills man was arrested Sunday after police say he caused a head-on collision while intoxicated.
The accident left an Eagle Mountain woman, 45, in "extremely critical condition," according to Saratoga Springs Police Cpl. Aaron Rosen.
Police said a pickup truck driven by Shawn Stratton, 35, drifted across the center median of Cedar Fort Road (state Route 73) at 800 West, "nudged" one vehicle and then struck the woman's car head-on about 3:45 p.m.
She was flown by helicopter to an area hospital, and her 8-year-old son was transported by ambulance.
Stratton was treated for minor injuries and booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of driving under the influence and unsafe lane travel.

Will's Homecoming~November 2
Will came home to Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder's home. He still has pain, but is a trooper! The guys watched football and basketball and when it was time to leave, Will cheerfully reminded the three returned missionaries TO WEAR THEIR SEATBELTS! He still has his sense of humor.News

Those of you who know the Schroeders, this is what was shown on the news about the accident. The story is not true completely. Both Tracy and Will are doing well. Bishop Evans just left and gave me the latest update. I don't have very many e-mail addesses so please forward this to all you can.
Will was released tonight and Quint took him to his mom's home in So. Jordan, he's doing great. Has a broken pelvis and broken collar bone but both are not clean breaks, just cracks.
Traci has both arms broken, both legs have multiple compound fractures, AND I just learned 7 broken ribs. She was taken back into surgery today for more repairs. She is intubated and can't speak. She is able to write a few words with her right hand. What a blessing! She will have more surgery this week as well. Today they placed a filter in her to catch any blood clots. Her spleen was bruised badly but not ruptured.
Bishop asks that no one calls any of the family and that no one tries to see Traci. He said it may be ten days or more before shewill even be up to having a visitor. They know we all want to help but please don't call or go to the hospital. Don't drop off food or individual dinners or anything at the hospital. Bishop would like to keep things uncomplicated. The very best thing we can do isto pray for her and the family. She will have a long road ahead to recovery. He said they do not need any meals or anything at all yet. He will let us know when we can do something for Quint and the kids. Thank you to everyone who has called and offered to help.
